The redesign of the attic studio in an old villa in Berlin-Zehlendorf was intended to create additional living space while preserving the special character of the house.
To create a separate guest room, a lightweight partition wall was installed, which divides the room into functional zones without detracting from the open character of the attic. The remaining area has been deliberately kept spacious, making it appear brighter and more expansive.
Special attention was paid to the two gable walls. The existing exposed brickwork was refurbished and now forms a calm backdrop for the old roof beams. To highlight the structure of the brickwork and create a warm atmosphere, the collar beams were fitted with subtle lighting.
The walls and sloping ceilings are kept simple in white – a clear contrast to the wooden elements, which emphasises the special architecture of the old villa and gives the room a timeless tranquillity.
