The attic of an old villa in Berlin-Zehlendorf was remodelled with great attention to detail to create additional living space while preserving the charm of the old building.
A lightweight wall was installed to create a separate room for a guest bedroom. This optimised the room layout, while the rest of the attic space was deliberately left open to create a more spacious feel.
Particular attention was paid to the design of the gable walls. The exposed brickwork was refurbished and now provides a beautiful backdrop for the old roof beams. To showcase the brickwork and create a cosy atmosphere, the collar beams in front of the gable walls were fitted with lights.
The walls and pitched roofs were kept plain white to create a nice contrast to the beams and give the room a modern touch without detracting from the rustic charm of the old building.
